The Transition Has Begun!

Streamside Software began its life creating apps for the Apple ecosystem. Along the way we carved out a niche in the category of paranormal apps.

At our core we are Apple developers. This will never change. Our love for Apple’s design-focused philosophy and technology inspires every product we create.

Today, however, we are announcing a new emphasis on Artificial Intelligence (AI).

I am incredibly excited to introduce you to StreamSide AI!

Rest assured, StreamSide Software will continue to exist. We will still continue to create and support iOS, iPadOS, and macOS apps, however we are shifting our attention to pursuing the promise of everything AI.

In doing so, we are committed to exploring AI ethically and responsibly.

We can’t wait to show you our first app: an AI app for iOS, iPadOS, and macOS (our first release for this platform).

Thank you for taking this journey with us, and please stay tuned!

Introducing the ER70 EVP Recorder

StreamSide is pleased to introduce the ER70 EVP Recorder app to the Apple iOS AppStore.

The ER70 was inspired by anomalous interactions Scott Philbrook and Forrest Burgess, from the Astonishing Legends podcast, had while using a vintage audio recorder at the Sallie House.

“It was clear to me that Scott’s view of the paranormal was changed by that experience, and he asked me my thoughts about it several times,” co-designer Roger Pingleton explains. “During the pandemic I had the chance to examine that device closely, to really do a deep-dive, and I discovered was something up with it.

“My next thought was, ‘Hey! I can model this in software, just like guitar amplifiers have been modeled.’ “

This is started a long research process.

As with our other successful projects, Jill Beitz played a crucial role as co-designer, shaping each design decision. In February of 2023, Beitz and Pingleton spent many hours refining and tweaking the feature-set of the app.

When the underlying technology was ready to be tested, Jill came up with the perfect haunted test location – the Ybor City Florida Ghost Tour.

“I was still skeptical myself,” Pingleton added. “I knew I’d mimicked the signal chain of the original device, but whether it could perform as well as I’d hoped was yet to be seen.”

Needless to say the app did not disappoint. For the full story of the Ybor ghost tour experience, please check out the the story on the ER70 site.

StreamSide Celebrates 10+ Years on the Apple AppStore

Streamside Software is celebrating 10 years since Spirit Story Box was first published on the Apple AppStore.

In Summer of 2013, our fledgling company was just looking to get its feet wet in the Apple ecosystem, when we chose a paranormal app as our first entry.

As paranormal investigators, Jill Beitz and Roger Pingleton, spent hours experimenting with the technology which would eventually provide the underpinnings to Spirit Story Box.

“Jill and I spent a half a year designing the app in our spare time, hoping it would take off, but having no idea what to expect. When the app was ready to be released, I got cold feet, and Jill had to talk me into putting it out into the world,” Pingleton said.

The app has surpassed our wildest expectations. Not only has it appeared in national publications such as CNET, The Huffington Post, and USA Today, but it continues to perform well in the Apple charts, placing in the top 100 entertainment apps on a weekly basis.

On Thursday, February 8, 2024, the ER70 and Spirit Story Box were in Apple’s Top 100 Entertainment apps, appearing just 5 places apart. (Highlight added to image capture.)

In 2023, StreamSide broke new ground in the paranormal market when we released the ER70, an audio recording app which mimics a famous, discontinued digital recorder, and just last week both apps appeared in Apple’s top 100 entertainment apps with a few places of each other.

“We couldn’t be happier about the success of our newest app. It’s humbling to know Spirit Story Box is so well-loved, but even more humbling to see the ER70 EVP Recorder joining its sister app. Thank you all for supporting us these past 10 years!” Pingleton said.
